Tips for the cleanest cut-out
- Use a photo where the subject stands out clearly from what's behind it.
- Good, even lighting helps the edges come out sharp.
- Very fine detail like flyaway hair or fur can be tricky — simpler outlines cut out best.
- Preview the result against white and dark backgrounds (the buttons above) to check the edges before downloading.
Fine-tune the result by hand
Automatic removal gets most images right, but tricky edges sometimes need a touch-up. After the background is removed, use the built-in brush to clean it up: Erase paints away anything the tool left behind, and Restore brings back any part of the subject that was removed by mistake. Adjust the brush size with the slider, and use Undo to step back. All editing happens live on the image before you download.
